Director / Writer / Actor

Henco J has proved his commitment to the arts from an early age. Inventing fantasy worlds and conceptualizing outlandish characters. Born a Leo in 1981 he always knew that he wanted to be an actor. After High School he studied Drama at the Tshwane University of Technology (then known as the Pretoria Technikon) where he graduated with a B-TECH Degree cum laude and completed his Tap Association Membership with DanceCor, which makes him a certified professional Tap Dancer. In 2013 he obtained his Master’s Degree cum laude from the University of Pretoria with a dissertation in which he developed strategies, based on cognitive neuroscientific findings, to assist the actor in circumventing the challenges that arise when working on a green screen set.

 

In his journey for creativity and adventure in the entertainment industry; Henco J has worked mainly as an actor over the past 13 years, playing many different roles on South African television shows such as Binnelanders, 7de Laan, Generations, Askies and more. Henco J loves to tell stories and make films. He continually finds himself in the director’s chair where he has written and directed various short films which have been shown at national film festivals.

In 2014 Henco J was the South African winner of the 2014                                        competition and directed Uma Thurman in the short film                                          . He then went on to win best director in the 2014 Johannesburg 48 Hour Film Project for the short film “Flying High”

 

Henco J strives to continuously strengthen his abilities as a director, writer and actor and looks with bright eyes to the future, excited that there are still a lot of films waiting to be made.
